First of all the tiger had problems with the communication system, the breaks and other limitations such as a slow turrent movement speed, bad mobility and its immense fuel supply. Then it took time to produce a tiger aswell as highly professional workers. On the other hand tanks like the t-34 got literally constructed by woman who never worked in such factorys before the war. Further the allies brang up the centurion aswell as the firefly. Especially the firefly with what i believe to be a 85mm gun was very capable of fighting the tiger. On the russian side they brang up the is-1 and is-2 which are said to be the most dangerous tanks in all of ww2. Overall i have to said, although im a big fan of the tigers design and its gun superiority when the it came out, its overhyped as a weaponnary system!

The Sherman is still a good tank, just wasn't build for the purpose of THIS war. But the industry could build them in a much faster phase than the German tiger. So mass production > quality

Shermans: Pros: Reliable, easily produced in great numbers, adaptable, versatile, easily transportable, maneuvrable and fast. Cons: Not a good tank killer vs. Panthers an Tigers. Tigers: Pros: Good at killing any tank, good armour. Cons: Too heavy (eg on bridges) needs a lot of resources to produce, needs a lot of resources to keep going, overengineered maintenance nightmare (eg interlocking wheels), couldn't be produced in great numbers, broke down a lot. The Sherman was a great tank for the Allies' needs. The Tiger, on the other hand, was wasted resources that could have been better allocated for more Stug IIIs for example, that were a better design. But I won't complain. I'm glad the Nazis were taken with their "wonder weapons". It hastened their demise, thankfully.

German tanks went for quality, most allies went for quantity. Quantity in this case won, because a high quality tank can still be destroyed by some funky ass anti-air gun converted into a tank destroyer from a distance at which the tank can't even see them.

The germans had better tanks than the allies but they had less (and a fuel shortage too), the allied were actualy affraid of the tigers since they inflicted heavy casualities on them. The germans were also getting recked by the soviets in the eastern front and the soviets had the T-34, which was basicly as good as a german tank but way easier and faster to produce.

I'd say the Sherman is a "better" tank, if you consider cost, production time, ease of maintenance and avaibility of replacement parts.

Sherman with 76mm cannon started to fuck over the Tiger. Imagine a smaller and faster tank screwing over your expensive big walking bricks. not to mention the British had their version of the Sherman, the Firefly, which was kicking Tigers' asses already.

Shermans couldn't penetrate the front of the Tiger. They had to attack it's sides. Tiger was of a much higher quality, but more difficult to build (cough German overengineering), but it was easier to mass-produce the Sherman. So it was quantity over quality. yes but the main argument is price, availability for fuel, rare metals like nickel, number of units, spare parts for damaged units, ease of repair, are u on the offensive or defensive, air superiority, etc... all the above are some of the numerous arguments why the fritz lost even tho they had "better tanks" t34-85 was best IMO, best all rounder, massive numbers able to soak up losses

Fun part is, after WW2 Germany wasn’t allowed to produce it’s own weapons, such as tanks. But when that prohibition ended some time ago, it tooked them some years (or less) to create the leopard 2, a modern tank even better than the American M1 Abrams.
